In the category of, it’s been a long time coming, the girl’s varsity tennis team got a very satisfying win against the Greenville Waves. Ending at least a decades worth of losses if not two or more. Eaton got another strong team effort in getting four courts instead of the necessary three to secure the match. The Murphy sisters all had dog fights on their hands but prevailed in the end. Sophia”s win at 1st singles was extra sweet because she had lost to the same girl a season ago in a hard fought 3 set match. Grace and Tess, once again had to reach down deep and really play hard and patient to hold off strong pushes from their opponents.
1st doubles Addie Bell and Brianna Ward came up short as they faced a very similar team to themselves. Both girls played some very smart and competitive points but Greenville was just able to make a few more plays when it mattered.
Our 2nd doubles team of Anna Kramer and Erika Wilkinson had to shake off some mental mistakes and a poor finish of the first set. Once they did, they started to play some good doubles tennis and battled for the win which took 3 sets to get. They seem to figure more stuff out with each match they play. Hopefully that continues. The Eagles are now 4-2 overall and prepare to finish the week off with a match with league opponent Franklin.
