In an unprecedented first, the girl’s varsity tennis team beat their league rival Bellbrook for the first time in school history. Thanks to a tremendous team effort the Eagles were able to win four of the courts. The only court we lost was 1st singles. We knew going in that they had a very strong #1 player returning and that Sophia Murphy was going to have her hands full. We also knew that they were graduating all four doubles players and a solid singles player from last year’s team, so they were definitely not as deep and that we might be very competitive with them. In addition to a tough opponent the girls had to battle some intense heat once again and persevere. I am very proud of the effort they gave. We still have a lot of work to do and major room for improvement but I do like how we are measuring up to some of these other teams. The Eagles are now 3-2 overall and 2-1 In league with this recent win.
1st singles Sophia Murphy lost to Andrea Szep 3-6, 1-6.
2nd singles Grace Murphy won against Nitika Arora 6-4, 6-4.
