On Friday, the Eaton boy’s tennis team had a terrific team win over league rival Brookville despite weather, as well as missing three varsity players. Going into the match we knew we were going to be without four players because of another school conflict so it was certainly a ” next man up mentality.” Then to top it off, it was the most windy day we have had for a match and we’ve had quite a few windy ones. We never really like to complain about the weather because both teams have to play in it but it definitely was a factor in the match. I give credit to our players who had to step in and fill varsity spots when they’ve been playing JV all season. Kameron and Ethan had a super battle at 2nd doubles. Pulling out the win in a thrilling 3rd set tiebreaker. AJ Pettit once again helped out on 1st doubles and had a heartbreaking loss along with Dawson. Despite the loss, I’m very proud of the way they came back after getting steamrolled in the 1st set. Seniors Andrew and John took care of their business and got Eaton the first two courts. Then Keith Turner sealed the match at 3rd singles with a dramatic tiebreaker win in the 2nd set. This gives the Eagles a three game win streak and a 2-4 league record. Overall the boys tennis team is 6-7. This concludes league matches and the Eagles will prepare for their league tournament next Wednesday at Centerville High School. Currently the Eagles are in 5th place. Trailing Monroe by just a few points.
