Historically in the past, Bellbrook has been a dominate force against tennis teams from Eaton and if one just looks at the match score it still appears to be the case. But if you were to take a closer look at the box scores, you’d see the boys tennis team was quite competitive on all the courts.
Senior Breven Perry played some of his best tennis this early season and really pushed Bellbrook’s #1. After dropping the 1st set, Breven upped his game and was even leading the 2nd set 4-3 before ultimately losing it 4-6
Andrew Collins had the closest match of the afternoon. After losing a very close 1st set in which he had real chances to swing it his way, he bounced back and won the second set. Unfortunately he fell short of closing out the 3rd. There were opportunities there and hopefully some lessons to take into future matches.
Even though the score doesn’t reflect it, Steven Perry had a very competitive match. The whole match consisted of very close games and long points. He just couldn’t get any of it to fall his way. As a first year varsity player, he’s still learning.
Both doubles teams had very tight and competitive first sets. Unfortunately, once they swung Bellbrook’s way they were partially deflated in the 2nd sets. John Altom and Seth Bristow had one very long, close game that was the 6th game of the set. Had they won that game , I think they could’ve won the set.
That brings the Eagles to 1-2 overall and 0-1 In league. They get ready for a home match with Carlisle next.
