The Eaton High School Varsity Wrestling team recently competed in the Southwestern Buckeye League Championship Tournament held on February 15th and 16th at Monroe High School. Once again, the Eagles brought the Championship trophy back to Eaton as they earned their 7th League title in eight years and the program’s 15th overall.
The Eagles, with a team score of 182.5, outscored all teams in both the Southwestern and Buckeye Divisions. Brookville (172) finished 2nd in the Southwestern Division while Milton Union (131) finished in 1st place, (6th overall), in the Buckeye Division.
Individually, the Eagles were led by senior Wade Monebrake who took 1st place in the 138lbs. weight class and was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler.
Chris Weadick (145), Zac Schmidt (160), Skyler Straszheim (220), and Seth Bowman (285) all took home impressive titles in their respective weight class. Owen Hewitt grabbed fourth place in the 120 pound bracket.

The Eagles will be begin their OHSAA Sectional Tournament competition on Friday and Saturday, February 22 & 23 at Graham High School.
