Eagles News · Cross Country Teams Win Eaton Invitational, McCarty Takes First

The Eaton High School Cross Country Program hosted the 48th Annual Eaton Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, September 15th. The event was once again held at historic Fort St. Clair Park in Eaton, where close to 1,000 runners took to the course in one of the premier events in Southwest Ohio.

Both Eaton High School’s Boys and Girls teams put forth impressive performances in their respective Division II races. The Boys finished in 1st place overall in Division II with a team score of 29 points. The Boys were led by junior Alex McCarty who won the race with a time of 16.52.8. The next Eagles to cross the finish line were Alex Newport (fourth) and Jack Bortel (fifth). Hamilton Badin finished in 2nd Place place in Division II with a team score of 49 points.

On the Girls side, Eaton captured first place with a team score of 48 points. Monroe finished in second (69 points), followed by Celina (73 points).  Allison Mowen crossed the finish line first for the Eagles with a time of 22.13.0 (7th overall),  just ahead of teammates Claire Meyer (8th) and Brooke Caplinger (9th).

The Eagles will attempt to bring home the Preble County Championships on Tuesday, September 18 at Fort St. Clair
