After a very rough start the lady Eagles finished their week by winning three matches in a row. Capping it off with a solid finish against league rival Monroe. This was the the last league opponent Eaton had to face and was a make up match due to an earlier rain out. This was a good win for the Eagles as they are now 4-2 in league with losses to just Oakwood and Bellbrook. They have put themselves in a good spot to fight for third place. They must have a strong showing at the league tournament next Wed 27th if they hope to hold on to third place.
In the Monroe match, the first doubles team of Madison McKinley and Addie Bell had the closest match and the only loss for Eaton on the evening. They had a slow start that cost them the first set but then they rallied back for the second set. And Monroe to their credit, kept fighting and playing hard in the final set. And ended up just making a few more plays than Eaton. And freshman Sophia Murphy had to overcome some hurdles in her first set. After being up 4-1, she found herself down 5-6 and needing to win her serve to at least get it to a tiebreaker. She did but she had to endure an extremely competitive tiebreaker. You play the first girl to get seven points by two, and Sophia ended up winning 11-9. That first set required a strong mental game.
The Eagles are now 11-5 but face some strong competition in Miami Valley on Monday and then Centerville Black on Thurs.
