Trey Gregory of the Eaton High School Boys Swimming team traveled to Canton, Ohio this past weekend to participate in the OHSAA Division II State Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday and Friday, February 23 and 24. Held in the C.T. Branin Natatorium, Trey entered the meet 13th in the State in the 100 Yard Butterfly event.
In the preliminary round, Gregory recorded a time of 24.07 in his first 50 yards and in the last 50 yards he recorded a time of 27.83. He finished his race in 51.90, which was a personal best time and a new school record, and placed 11th in the event. “ It was fun and the meet was fast. I was very pleased with my time on Thursday,” shared Gregory.
In the Consolation Finals in the 100 Yard Butterfly event, Trey finished his first 50 yards with a time of 24.52 which is a great start, however he finished his second 50 yards in a time of 28.25. Gregory finished with an overall time of 52.77 and in 13th place in the State of Ohio.
“I am incredibly honored to have worked with such a talented swimmer as Trey Gregory. He put everything he had in to the prelim race to break a school record in the 100 Fly with a 51.90. I will always remember the excitement he exuded when he looked up at the scoreboard and realized his time. He went on to place 13th in all of Ohio. I am very proud of him and wish him the best as he moves on with his swimming career in college,” said Eaton High School Head Coach Kajsa Ruebush.
