Multiple Teams · Boys Basketball Looks for First League Win

The Boys Varsity Basketball team bounced back from a 0-2 start in the Twin Valley South Tip-Off Tournament by going 2-1 overall the week of December 8th. During that stretch, the Eagles defeated Preble Shawnee and Talawanda while falling in overtime to Bellbrook.

In their first home game of the 2014/15 campaign, Coach Denny Shepherd’s Eagles used a balanced approach to defeat Preble Shawnee 53-50 on Tuesday, December 9. Trace Couch led the Eagles with 16 points while Trevor Pittman added 11 points.

On Friday, December 12, Eaton hosted Bellbrook in their first SWBL Southwestern Division contest of the season and again used a balanced scoring effort with five players reaching double figures. Matt Sullender led the Eagles (14 points), followed by Trey Smith (12 points), Damon Willard (11 points) and Trace Couch and Garrett Eiler each contributed 10 points. However, after leading much of the fourth quarter, Bellbrook pulled even at the end of regulation and battled back to defeat Eaton 69-63 in overtime.

Looking to rebound from Friday night’s overtime loss to Bellbrook, Eaton traveled to Oxford to face Talawanda High School on Saturday, December 13. The Eagles were again led by balanced team effort as Garrett Eiler contributed 14 points and 5 rebounds, Trace Couch added 12 points and 8 rebounds, and Trevor Pittman supplied 12 points, including going 6 for 6 from the free throw line.

The Eagles look to even their record on Tuesday night (December 16) as they travel to Monroe High School to face the Hornets. Game Time is 7:15pm.
